Jonathan Osorio plays the heel as Reds get a leg up on Tigres

Greg Vanney predicted chances would be few and far between for Toronto FC when it met Tigres UANL in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Executing, he said, would be the difference.

Things played out just as the Reds’ coach predicted on Tuesday night at BMO Field, as the teams exchanged just a handful of clear-cut chances, with the home team having the edge.

For a while, it looked as though the result might not go Toronto’s way. TFC struggled to find that game-winning touch. Until the 88th minute, that is, when a back heel from close range by local boy Jonathan Osorio gave Toronto a 2-1 lead heading into next Tuesday’s second leg in Monterrey, Mexico.
