Toronto FC announced this morning that Jason Hernandez has officially retired from professional soccer, and that he will join the club’s front office as manager of player engagement. The defender played 14 years in MLS, two at TFC, including the 2017 treble-winning campaign.
At 35 years old, Hernandez is retiring after stints at the MetroStars (back when NYRB were called that), Chivas USA, San Jose Earthquakes, and New York City FC before coming to Toronto. In addition to the trophies he helped win in 2017, he was part of San Jose’s Supporters’ Shield-winning side in 2012.
