TORONTO, Canada—Toronto FC announced today that the club is removing the “interim” tag from head coach Javier Perez’s title. Perez will be the club’s head coach for the remainder of the 2021 season.
After starting the season as an assistant coach with the club, Perez was never officially named ‘interim’ head coach after taking over coaching responsibilities from Chris Armas. However, after impressing right from the jump with a convincing performance against current Supporters’ Shield leaders New England Revolution followed by a subsequent run of five games unbeaten, the Spaniard was allowed to continue leading the charge.
