Gillette Stadium is not a building that has ever been kind to Toronto FC. The Reds are 2-10-4 all-time on the road against the New England Revolution, winless since 2014.
Last year, the Reds lost 3-2 in Foxborough, allowing Cristian Penilla to score twice in the first seven minutes. They only came within a goal in the 90th minute, when Sebastian Giovinco slotted a penalty (and was then promptly sent off for grabbing Wilfried Zahibo’s face).
So, now would be the perfect time to reverse those fortunes. TFC, eighth in the Eastern Conference but just two points back of fifth, could leapfrog a lot of teams (including the Revs themselves) with a win.
