Heading into this summer, there was so much hope. The women’s team went into the World Cup under the moniker of being the most talented Canadian team ever, while the men’s team were young, dynamic and exciting.
However, neither were able to live up to their potential. The women’s team struggled to score against elite opposition and were bounced in the round of 16 by Sweden. The men’s team had a second half breakdown against Haiti in the quarterfinals that spelled the end of their Gold Cup.
