At the age of 40, Canadian soccer legend Dwayne De Rosario can’t seem to hang them up for good. He was unveiled as the marquee player at the announcement of a new professional arena soccer club in Mississauga, Ontario on Wednesday.
The new team, called the Mississauga MetroStars (yep) was revealed at an event hosted by TV personalities James Sharman, Craig Forrest, and Steven Caldwell. They will play in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) as the 17-team league’s first Canadian side.
DeRo, who had 33 goals for Toronto FC and another 22 for the Canadian men’s national team, is joined at the MetroStars by fellow TFC alumnus Adrian Cann.
