Last time Toronto FC saw D.C. United, it was for a heart-stopping match in which the Reds came from behind twice — once from a 3-0 deficit — to draw 4-4 at BMO Field. It was a hell of a game, but perhaps not a great result against a D.C. side that was, at the time, entrenched in the basement of MLS.
Since then, the side in black and red has been on an intense upward trajectory, now very close to grabbing a playoff spot from under the nose of the Montreal Impact.
