Toronto FC’s playoff games last season were big enough TV events to convince Bell Media to test a little more exposure for MLS in 2017.
The league announced on Thursday that seven games from March through to May will be aired on CTV - Canada’s most-watched network - this season, including three Reds matches. For now, it is unclear if that first run could lead to more matches being moved over from TSN later in the campaign or if this initiative is solely designed to generate some early-season interest.
Toronto’s visit to the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 18 will be the first game of the season to air on CTV, with all of the games broadcast on that channel taking place on Saturday afternoons.
