Colorado Rapids’ Howard suffers a goalkeeper’s ‘worst nightmare’ injury

The final round of fixtures in 2016 dealt a heavy blow to other teams around the world

Colorado goalkeeper Tim Howard will be missing out on the rest of the playoffs after fracturing his right adductor longus — located in the upper groin — while taking a goal kick last week.

Clint Irwin knows a little something about Colorado Rapids, having played there for three years before joining the Reds this season.

He is also familiar with freak injuries, after a routine goal kick in July led to more than two months on the injury list with a quadriceps strain.
