The Canadian women's national team will get a chance at back to back Olympic medals, and it was a familiar face who delivered them the decisive victory. Christine Sinclair scored a pair of goals, and Deanne Rose added a late insurance marker, to give Canada a 3-1 victory over Costa Rica. The win meant qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
It was the game winning goal for Canada that was particularly impressive. After Sinclair opened the scoring in the first half, she would go one better in the second half. After a poor clearance from a Costa Rican defender, Sinclair would control the ball on one foot before turning and firing the ball off the crossbar with her other.
