Toronto FC goalkeeper Alex Bono earned his first cap for the U.S. men’s national team on Monday, as he recorded a clean sheet in the squad’s 3-0 friendly win over Bolivia in Philadelphia.
Bono played all 90 minutes behind a team primarily composed of players with European clubs, including Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund) and Weston McKennie (Schalke 04). The TFC keeper didn’t have a whole lot to do on the night as it was a pretty decisive performance from the Americans, but sometimes that’s all you need from your goalie.
Bolivia only had five shots, none of which were on target, but Bono did make five recoveries and caught a cross.
