Blue Jays manager John Gibbons is keeping his fingers crossed that Jose Bautista won’t be on the sideline for an overly long period.
At this point, though, Gibbons can’t say for certain the prognosis for Bautista, who has been diagnosed with turf toe after a visit on Monday with Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist based in Charlotte, N.C., who also works for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League.
“He will wear a walking boot for a couple of weeks and we’ll see where he’s at,” Gibbons said before the Jays played host to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday to start a two-game set at the Rogers Centre.
