The news that Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was subjected to racist taunts at Fenway Park in Boston on Monday reverberated around baseball on Tuesday, including inside the Blue Jays clubhouse.
“I just think it’s sad, really,” Toronto second baseman Devon Travis told reporters, including New York writer Roger Rubin. Like Jones, Travis is African-American.
“Whether it’s in baseball or just your life, no matter where you are when things like that happen it’s sad. It’s sad to see that stuff is so relevant. (But) it’s good to see Boston is handling it the way they are.
