TORONTO -- Devon Travis was held out of Tuesday night's game against the Orioles because of a contusion on his left rib cage but remains optimistic he won't need a lot of time off.
Travis expressed optimism about returning to Toronto's lineup for Wednesday's game. He was considered questionable for the series opener against Baltimore but was ruled out after going through a series of pregame drills.
The 24-year-old said the injury doesn't impact him at the plate but it's still a concern when diving in the field or on the basepaths.
"I had all the intentions of playing today," Travis said on Tuesday.
