Toronto excited about Morales' power, versatility

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- The Blue Jays have no qualms about Kendrys Morales supplying the middle-of-the-order power to fill the gulf left by three-time All-Star Edwin Encarnacion's winter departure.

As for their plans on how to use the switch-hitting slugger in the field? That remains to be seen.

Toronto bench coach DeMarlo Hale, who managed Friday's game against the Red Sox while skipper John Gibbons flew back after spending an off-day at home in Texas, said the veteran Morales' role will primarily be at designated hitter. But spot starts to provide relief at first base, or to free up the DH spot and give other players a rest, are certainly not out of the question.
