Canadian slugger Josh Naylor, one of the Miami Marlins’ top prospects, left a minor-league teammate with a knife injury after a weekend prank went wrong.
According to a report in the Sun-Sentinal newspaper, Naylor left Greensboro Grasshoppers outfielder Stone Garrett with a wound to his right hand after the two were goofing around with a knife at the apartment they share in North Carolina. The incident was not a fight, according to Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill, but rather a practical joke that went awry.
“Naylor has a reputation of being a bit of a prankster, but this one obviously went a little too far,” Hill told the Sun-Sentinal.
