Stubbs' homer spoils comeback for Blue Jays

ARLINGTON, TEX. - They were not warning about stormy weather in north Texas Saturday night but, out of the blue, there was a sudden and unexpected outbreak of thunder and lightning at Globe Life Park.

In the end, the last loud bang was authored by Texas outfielder Drew Stubbs, whose 10th-inning solo home run saved a 6-5 victory after the Jays had overcome a three-run Rangers lead to tie it in the ninth.

The Jays eruped for two ninth-inning home runs off Rangers closer Shawn Tolleson to overcome a 5-2 lead but couldn’t finish the job.

With one out, former Ranger Justin Smoak belted a two-run home run and the crowd was still murmuring about that bolt when Troy Tulowitzki hammered his eighth of the season over the wall in left to tie the game.
