Stroman sidelined with shoulder inflammation

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman is currently without a timetable for his spring debut because of right shoulder inflammation.

Stroman experienced tightness in his shoulder during a bullpen session early last week. He was later sent for an MRI, which revealed inflammation but ruled out any serious structural damage. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said on Tuesday that did not know how long Stroman would be out for and added that this is the first time he has dealt with this type of injury.

The 26-year-old Stroman was the favorite to be named Toronto's Opening Day starter but it's not immediately clear how the current injury will impact his availability for the start of the regular season.
