Stroman, Barney carry Blue Jays to win over Royals

TORONTO — Marcus Stroman provided the pitching and Darwin Barney provided the pop as the Blue Jays defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-2 on Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre.

Stroman went seven innings, giving up only one run on four hits, picking up his career-high 12th win and first since Aug. 16.

Barney, batting ninth in the lineup, hit a two-run homer to left in the sixth off Kansas City starter Ian Kennedy and added an RBI single in the seventh. Barney smashed his fifth homer of the season on an 0-2 offering with none out, sending Kennedy out of the game after only 63 pitches and three hits.
