Solid outing from Buehrle, highlight-reel defence vault Jays in win

TORONTO - There’s something about Mark Buehrle brings out the best in the Blue Jays’ bats.

In his opening start of the season last week against Baltimore, Buehrle’s presence on the mound resulted in his teammates producing 12 runs on 16 hits, eight of them doubles.

The veteran left-hander was back on the bump for his second start last night and the Jays offence was recharged as they erupted for 13 hits in downing the Tampa Bay Rays 12-7.

The win prevented the Jays from dropping three in a row to the Rays who held them to three runs over the opening two games of the four-game series.
