TORONTO -- Justin Smoak made a late case to be considered for the American League All-Star team when he came through with a three-run homer during Friday night's game against the Yankees at Rogers Centre.
Smoak, who made his first All-Star team last season, delivered his 12th home run of the season during the Blue Jays' five-run second inning off Yankees starter Sonny Gray. According to Statcast™, Smoak's latest blast was projected to travel 404 feet and left his bat at 106 mph.
There hasn't been a whole lot of All-Star talk for Smoak this year as he's experienced a bit of a down season compared to his numbers from a year ago.
