TORONTO -- The Blue Jays' search for a new president appears to be over with multiple reports suggesting veteran front-office executive Mark Shapiro is on the verge of being named the successor to Paul Beeston.
Rogers Communications is expected to make the official announcement Monday morning, but neither organization has publicly commented on the situation. News of the agreement was first reported by CBS' Jon Heyman and later reported by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.
Shapiro is set to take over for Beeston, who previously announced that he would be retiring at the end of the season. Shapiro is a two-time Sporting News Executive of the Year and has spent half his life working in the Indians organization.
