Shapiro introduced as Blue Jays president

The Blue Jays introduced new team president and chief executive officer Mark Shapiro on Monday, and on his first day on the job, Shapiro didn't waste any time addressing his initial moves.

In his opening remarks, Shapiro announced that assistant general manager Tony LaCava will take over in the interim for former GM Alex Anthopoulos and assured that manager John Gibbons will remain at the helm for the 2016 season.

"Tony's work contributed greatly to the team that's on the field," Shapiro said. "He's touched people throughout all parts of this organization and he has universal respect and admiration from those people.
