ANAHEIM -- The Blue Jays placed right-hander Aaron Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday because of a right index finger contusion.
Sanchez sustained the injury away from the field and prior to his start on Thursday against the Angels. The 25-year-old declined to say how the injury happened, but it forced his removal after just one inning during that start against Los Angeles, during which he allowed two runs.
The latest setback for Sanchez likely means the Blue Jays will keep both Sam Gaviglio and Jaime Garcia in their starting rotation.
