Russell Martin latest Blue Jay on disabled list

As if the carnage in the Blue Jays training room wasn’t scattered far and wide enough, the team announced prior to Monday’s game against the Cleveland Indians that catcher Russell Martin was headed to the 10-day disabled list with an inflamed nerve in his left shoulder/neck area.

Martin has plenty of company in the walking wounded department, of course, most notably third baseman Josh Donaldson, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and starting pitchers J.A. Happ and Aaron Sanchez.

The problem with the veteran Jays catcher first cropped up during spring training but continued to get worse at the season went along and has hindered his movement in his catching arm and hand.
