Kansas City Royals infielder Raul A. Mondesi and minor league pitchers Logan Lmobana and Clinton Hollon were suspended Tuesday by the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball for violating the drug prevention and treatment program.
Mondesi, who made his major league debut in a World Series game last year, was suspended for 50 games for using the banned substance Clenbuterol. His original 80-game suspension was reduced when he proved that he took a cold medicine with the substance.
"This is an unfortunate incident that we believe to be an innocent mistake," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said.
