TOLEDO, OHIO -- Jose Reyes played six innings at shortstop and went 1-for-4 Thursday night in the first game of his Minor League assignment for Triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays shortstop, working back from a cracked rib that put him on the disabled list near the end of April, flied out to right, left and centre field his first three times at-bat.
Though he was scheduled to play just six innings, he snuck in an extra at-bat to lead off the seventh against Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon, who began a rehab assignment for Toledo. Reyes lined a first-pitch, 96-mph fastball into left field for a leadoff single before being lifted for a pinch-runner.
