Rangers' Hamilton to undergo knee surgery

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is slated to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Friday.

The club isn't ruling out a return this season by Hamilton but it appears he will be limited to pinch-hitting duties should he return to action.

Hamilton was on the disabled list with knee pain from Aug. 15 to Sept. 1 and didn't play in the field upon being activated. The knee continued to bother him despite treatment and limited duty.

Hamilton has played in just 40 games this season and is batting .257 with six homers and 21 RBIs.
