TORONTO — - The White Sox of 2015 had a vague resemblance to the Blue Jays of 2013. You remember the “can’t miss” Jays, right?
During the off-season prior to last season, the Sox were very active, aggressively trading for pitcher Jeff Samardzija, then investing $128 million in the free-agent market to sign Melky Cabrera, David Robertson, Adam LaRoche and reliever Zach Duke.
They went to training camp hoping to contend in the American League Central, but like the Jays of 2013 when they did a massive remodel of their roster, the reality did not match expectations.
