Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar issued an apology on Thursday for his role in a series of incidents during Wednesday's game vs. the Braves. The clubs got into a pair of benches-clearing episodes that were sparked by a heated verbal exchange involving Pillar and a bat flip by Jose Bautista.
The exchange occurred when Pillar took exception to a quick pitch from Jason Motte. Pillar struck out swinging on the 86-mph cutter outside of the zone and then yelled something in the direction of Motte. The verbal exchange prompted Motte to take several steps toward Pillar.
