HOMESTEAD, Fla. — The tiny village of Mt. Brydges, Ont., a dot on the map 24 km southwest of London, Ont., could have something no other Canadian city, town or village of any size has ever had as of Monday morning — a NASCAR Sprint Cup champion.
All because of Cole Pearn, the rookie crew chief of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet, who grew up following his dad around the short ovals of Southwestern Ontario, Northern New York, Michigan and Ohio.
If everything falls into place on Sunday afternoon in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway, however, Pearn could well end up sharing the championship trophy with Martin Truex Jr.
