Chris Davis received a take-it-or-leave-it offer from the Orioles on Wednesday as the free agent slugger deliberates whether to return to Baltimore.
The team raised its offer from seven years, $150 million to near $170 million, FOX Sports reported.
ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Thursday that Davis didn’t act, prompting the Orioles to take the deal off the table. Olney reports the deal could always be rekindled but said Baltimore was moving on to other business.
Davis is represented by agent Scott Boras, who has a history of advising his clients to be patient. However, the Orioles were anxious with the pace of talks and will move on to their next best option if Davis continues contemplating the decision.
