TORONTO - Boston Red Sox centrefielder Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a two-run home run in the ninth off Toronto closer Robert Osuna to tie the game 4-4 before the Sox scored three more in the inning to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6 at the Rogers Centre on Saturday.
With the Toronto loss and the Yankees’ 5-0 win over their cross town rivals New York Mets, the Jays’ lead in the AL East standings dropped to 3.5 games. Osuna, 1-5, picked up the loss. Tommy Layne, 2-1, earned the win, Robbie Ross the save.
Bradley’s homerun scored Brock Holt who had previously hit a double.
