MONTREAL - Mayor Denis Coderre hopes Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred will play ball when they meet in New York City on May 28.
“We will show Mr. Manfred our love for the sport,” Coderre said in an interview with the Canadian Press. “I don't want to negotiate openly, but we'll clearly talk about Montreal.”
In the past two years, Montreal's Olympic Stadium has hosted Toronto Blue Jays exhibition games that drew large attendance. The Expos left Montreal for Washington, D.C., In 2004.
“We need a plan, we need a step-by-step approach,” Coderre said. “You don't pull the flower to make it grow faster.
