The San Diego Padres already traded away one high-profile outfielder, dealing Melvin Upton Jr. to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, but it seems unlikely they'd be able to do the same for Matt Kemp, according to Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball.
"They’d like to trade red-hot Matt Kemp but seem to realize their best hope [their only hope?] may come in the winter," Heyman writes.
Kemp's second-half numbers so far seem to put him on pace for continuing his trend of performing better after the All-Star break -- he has seven home runs, 11 RBIs and 15 hits in the 12 games he's played since then.
