The Washington Nationals have inquired about Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, but the idea of a deal is "is crazy and seems unlikely," tweets Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post.
The Nationals do not appear to have a glaring need for a corner outfielder and appear to be more interested in adding bullpen help given the recent troubles experienced by Jonathan Papelbon.
The 35-year-old Bautista returned to the lineup this week after missing a month with a toe injury and is hitting .224/.357/.439 with 12 homers and 42 RBIs.
