NEW YORK -- Daniel Murphy continued his historic postseason by hitting a two-run home run Sunday night, and Noah Syndergaard struck out nine over 5 2/3 innings as the New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 4-1 in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Citi Field.
The Mets lead the series two games to none and will attempt to close it out at Wrigley Field, where Games 3-5 are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and, if necessary, Thursday.
Murphy's two-run homer off Cubs ace right-hander Jake Arrieta completed a three-run first-inning outburst by the Mets, who were winless in seven regular-season games against Chicago but have not trailed in the NLCS.
