Mayza optioned, House up due to 'pen workload

CHICAGO -- A heavy workload for the bullpen has cost another reliever his spot in the Major Leagues, as lefty Tim Mayza was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday morning to make room for TJ House.

Toronto made the move because it had very little protection in the bullpen for a potential short outing from starter Nick Tepesch on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays did not have a long man, and closer Roberto Osuna has been unavailable because of the flu. Add in the fact that Aaron Loup and Ryan Tepera have pitched a lot lately, and the club was left with no choice.
