Marlins to name GM Jennings as manager

The Miami Marlins plan to name general manager Dan Jennings as the team's next manager to replace Mike Redmond, who was fired Sunday.

Jennings will officially be named Redmond's replacement at a news conference Monday morning, according to multiple reports.

Jennings joined the Marlins in 2002 and moved up from vice president of player personnel to the general manager position after the 2013 season.

Owner Jeffrey Loria made the decision to fire Redmond after the Marlins fell to 16-22 and were nearly the victims of a no-hitter Sunday in a 6-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves that completed a three-game sweep.
