But the game between the Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics on Thursday was truly bizarre, so Pearce’s heroics went on the backburner as talk returned to the ejections of starting Jays battery Marcus Stroman and Russell Martin by plate umpire Will Little.
Manager John Gibbons discussed the incident for the first time on Friday before his team’s game against the Angels, since he too had been ejected a day earlier and didn’t hold his usual post-game availability (DeMarlo Hale had filled in).
