Phil Coke is coming back to the American League.
The Blue Jays purchased the contract of the left-handed reliever from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday morning, and he'll arrive in Toronto after throwing four scoreless innings for the Blue Jays' highest affiliate. Coke appeared in 16 games for the Chicago Cubs this year and logged a 6.30 ERA.
The Cubs, who had signed Coke as a free agent in March, released him on May 26. The southpaw previously pitched for the Yankees and Tigers, and he's made 383 of his 399 appearances in the AL. Coke is 22-27 with a 4.
