Left elbow strain shuts down Loup for 2 weeks

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Blue Jays reliever Aaron Loup has a strain in the flexor tendon of his left elbow and will not be allowed to a throw a baseball for at least the next two weeks.

Loup felt some discomfort in the area shortly after arriving to camp last month, and he was shut down for five days. When he tried to throw a bullpen session on Thursday, the soreness was still present.

The 28-year-old received an MRI on Thursday, which revealed the issue. The flexor tendon is the major attachment for the muscles in the forearm and wrist that powers the wrist and fingers.
