The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-handed pitcher J.A. Happ on the 10-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation, retroactive to Monday, and recalled utility man Ty Kelly from Triple-A Buffalo, the club announced Tuesday.
The Blue Jays also announced right-handed pitcher Aaron Sanchez had his right middle finger operated on to remove a portion of his nail. The procedure was performed Monday by Dr. Glenn Goldstein in Kansas City, and Sanchez should be able to resume throwing in a few days, according to the club.
Sanchez was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday because of a blister on his right index finger, but he had part of the nail on his middle finger removed after meeting with a hand specialist.
