TORONTO - Blue Jays manager John Gibbons is not about to go all Bull Durham on his players and order them to stand in the shower and accuse them of Lollygagging.
Gibbons insisted on Saturday that his club’s dismal performance in April has nothing to do with a lack of effort, as it apparently did with the Durham Bulls in the classic movie.
“I’ve been around different teams here and elsewhere ... and you can tell when the effort’s bad or guys are shutting down,” Gibbons said Saturday before the Blue Jays faced the Tampa Bay Rays.
