DUNEDIN — The word ‘comfort,’ and a dozen others that mean the same thing, are tossed around with abandon during spring training.
Strictly speaking, comfort, by definition is “a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.” It is also “the easing or alleviation of a person’s feelings of distress.”
It is a state being sought by just about every player, especially those coming from elsewhere.
Troy Tulowitzki, J.A. Happ and Drew Storen are all new to their surroundings at this Blue Jays’ camp, all seeking their own version of the same thing.
Each made his spring debut on Friday in Toronto’s 4-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium and each is satisfied with the comfort level he sees emerging just a week into training camp.
