The dream that has galvanized a nation is dying, and not so quietly.
The Blue Jays aren’t just losing to the Kansas City Royals. They are being sliced and diced and then fried in every conceivable way. This season that came from nowhere, this season of hope and pride and an excitement we haven’t known before, could end as early as Wednesday evening.
Just like that — like a knockout punch we didn’t see coming.
Without a real fight. Without a meaningful battle. Without the Jays playing like the Jays.
Maybe there will be another game on Friday at Kauffman Stadium.
