Jays hang on for win despite White Sox home run barrage

CHICAGO - It seems White Sox second baseman Brett Lawrie has taken up bird hunting.

He certainly has been killing the Blue Jays this weekend at U.S. Cellular Field.

Lawrie, a native of Langley, B.C. and a former Jay, answered his 3-for-4 night on Friday with two home runs and a single on Saturday, though the Jays managed to hang on for a 10-8 victory in a wild one on a hot afternoon.

Lawrie also made a fielding error in the ninth, so his presence wasn’t all bad news for his former team.

The victory snapped a four-game losing streak to the White Sox this season, despite the fact that Chicago smashed seven home runs in Saturday’s game — the ninth time in history the Jays allowed six or more homers in a game, having lost the previous eight.
