DUNEDIN, Fla. — There’s a reason — more than one, actually — that Blue Jays manager John Gibbons can barely suppress a laugh when asked about his team’s record and overall Grapefruit League play.
Despite Saturday’s 8-2 drubbing to the Philadelphia Phillies, their frequent spring training dance partner, it was still a generally pleasant afternoon at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
For one, the sky was blue and the sun was bright, emphasizing how far away we are from Toronto.
And more importantly, 40% of Gibbons’ starting rotation got in some positive work with opening day still an equally distant three weeks and change away.
