The Blue Jays added some much-needed catching depth to the organization when they signed old friend Erik Kratz to a minor-league deal Thursday.
Kratz appeared in 34 games for the Blue Jays in 2014 and worked hard in spring training that year trying to master R.A. Dickey’s knuckleball but, in the end, the club decided to go with Josh Thole.
Kratz has played 87 games in the big leagues this year with Houston and Pittsburgh, but was given his release by the Pirates last week after compiling an .094 batting average to go with a .105 OBP and .
