The Indians arrive in town amid hot speculation that their team president, Mark Shapiro, could be taking over as president of the Blue Jays when Paul Beeston steps down in October.
Shapiro has been with the Indians since 1992. He served as general manager from 2001 through 2010 when he was promoted to president. The ball club has been to the playoffs three times under his stewardship.
One of his primary accomplishments as president was the extensive renovation of Progressive Field. That experience could be of interest to the Blue Jays because one of the new president's long-term projects will involve major renovations at the Rogers Centre, including the installation of a natural grass playing surface.
